Change to Appointment system

New Appointment system

In response to your feedback, we are making changes to the appointment booking system.  The walk in open surgery appointment system will change.

From the 1st May 2024 - all appointments will now be bookable over the phone or by visiting the surgery.  Our reception team will ask you for a brief description of your needs so that they can ensure you are seen by the most relevant clinician within an appropriate time frame. Your appointment therefore may not be on the same day you call and it may be with our wider healthcare team which includes practice nurses, phlebotomists, pharmacists, physiotherapist and mental health nurse.

Appointments for the morning surgery can be made between 8am and 10am.  This can be done by phoning the practice or by walking in, but availability may be gone prior to 10am.

If you feel your case is urgent please state this clearly to the reception staff and this will be managed accordingly.

Routine in person and telephone appointments with a GP can still be booked up to 6 weeks in advance by phone, in the practice or online.

If calling for results, please call between 2-4pm

For clarification,   the number of appointment slots and number of GPs working on each day will not change – the main change is that you can now phone in from 8am to 10am, to book an appointment, you don’t need to walk in to do this.  Our reception team will ask you for a brief description of your needs so that they can ensure you are seen by the most relevant clinician within an appropriate time frame.

Practice Physio

We now have a dedicated physiotherapist working with us every Tuesday and Friday.  She can see patients with muscoloskeletal problems.  These include joint pain, stiffness, sprains, bone problems, whiplash, back pain, hip pain, knee pain and frozen shoulder. If you have a musculoskeletal problem then please arrange to see our physiotherapist by pre-booking an appointment with her.

Home Visits

Please try to telephone reception as early in the morning as possible if you require a home visit, we open at 8am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
