Test Results

Results of Tests and Investigations

Please phone the surgery on 0131 447 6277 between 2 and 4pm.  In most cases the receptionist will be able to give you your result over the phone.  If you need to speak to your doctor you can arrange a time for a GP to call you back.

Please ensure that we have accurate contact details for you and that you are available on that number for a GP to call, should that be necessary.

If you receive a "normal" test result but your symptoms persist, please contact us again on 0131 447 6277.

Urine samples must be handed into the surgery before 12:30 Monday to Friday.

Please DO NOT leave samples in the reception foyer when the surgery is closed.  All samples must be handed in to a member of the Practice team.

Under new data protection laws, children between the ages on 13 and 16 must give their parents' permission to access their test results. To obtain consent, the clinician should ask for this permission at the time of taking the blood, swab or giving in the urine sample. If this does not take place, a receptionist may have to speak to the child before giving results in order to obtain verbal consent. This should take place for each test the patient has and gaining consent once does not mean that the parent has permission to access future test results. Everyone aged 13 and above can access their own test results.
